2017 CRAWFORD PERFORMANCE POINTS SERIES
ROUND 3 RACE COVERAGE
It's the month of May and that means the big and bad monsters of the RCMTC head outdoors for the first time this season, as 30 of the best R/C Monster Trucks in the northeast were on hand for Round #3 of the 2017 RC Monster Truck Challenge Points Series. The first two rounds of this season long battle for the series Points Championship have elevated the bar for the competition this year, the bigger outdoor dirt track was a perfect stage for that competition to ramp up even more. A challenging turning course saw monster trucks jumping over school busses right off the start! then into a roller and would turn away from each other. Down the backstretch there was a crush car jump to hit and then what would be the great equalizer on this course, a tough U-turn around the turning car and back over the backstretch crush car set to cross the finish line. The racing was nothing short of awesome all day long.

Qualifying was an awesome preview of what was to come. The first run of the day featured newcomer Mike Mackenzie shredding the boddy off his awesome Metal Mulisha monster truck while facing Derrick Algieri, the current points leader. Kevin Adair was still showing strength after coming off the Round 2 win by putting down awesome qualifying passes all day, followed by strong runs from Grave Digger, Mr. Destruction, Zombie and Spare Time. Kyle DeFalco's Samson however emerged as the truck to beat, as Samson took the top qualifying honors.

The championship bracket was set and the battle began for the Win for Round #3. The quarter final round featured a trhilling race between Grave Digger and Nitemare, with Digger making a two wheel save on the way to the win. Current Point Leader Black Stallion was able to knock off top qualifier Samson, making it to the third place race against his closest point challenge Executioner. Kyle's Executioner was able to get the win. Meeting up in the finals was Mike Eaton's Summit Bigfoot and Dan DeFalco's Grave Digger. Bigfoot had the course dialed in all day. The track setup was similar to what the RCMTC ran last year on the turf track at RC Madness, a race that Eaton was able to grab his first RCMTC win at, so confidence was on his side. Digger got to the finals with wild rides and a little bit of luck after Excaliber DQ'ed in the semi finals. Digger also was battling problems with the front tires becoming unglued for the win. Howver, the last time Grave Digger qualified in the 12th position was last year during a points series race that he wound up winning. The Bigfoot Grave Digger battle was on.. The trucks were door to door the entire race and at the final turn, Grave Digger had trouble getting around the turning car, where Eaton's Bigfoot had it mastered all day long, the Summit Bigfoot was able to charge ahead and grab the Round #3 event win. The points shakeup following today's race was big. Black Stallion now holds a 5 point lead over Executioner, with Digger coming back with a strong finish, Bigfoot getting event winning points, Yeti and the rest of the field still hot on their trail. This will be sure to make things really exciting as we go PENDA Style drag racing for Round #4 Don't miss it!!
