RCMTC RETRO RENEGADES
BATTLE OF THE MONSTER TRUCKS 1
February 4th, 2017 RC Madness Enfield, CT - After coming off the most competitive and sucessful years of RCMTC competition, the highly anticipated 2017 RCMTC racing season finally got underway on February 4th 2017 as the awesome old school monsters of the RCMTC Retro Renegades series rolled into RC Madness for the first Battle of the Monster Trucks retro event of the year. An amazing 23 truck field showed up to do battle, with some new competitors and some regular competitors debuting their retro trucks in the series for the first time. Long time monster truck competitor Artie Fie returned to the RCMTC to show off his awesome fleet of trucks along with Mike Eaton making his retro debut and the first time ever at an RCMTC event for Tom Greathouse who brought his Bigfoot to join the batltle. Also the race teams of DRCR, Phil Hendrson and Mike Byrnes and Abdul Rascoe were all on hand. The trucks did battle today with the normal qualifying and championship bracket format that the pro-mod trucks do every montn. Qualifying right out of the gate proved that this was going to be one of the most competitive retro races we've ever had. The Renegades of the RCMTC were door to door almost every run and three different trucks won 4 of the qualifying rounds. Kyle's Carolina Crusher taking round #1, Mike's First Blood taking round #2 and Dan's Stomper taking the 3rd and fourth rounds. Most of the qualifying was done on a j-hook course and for the championship bracket the track was reconfigured into twin ovals. Even though Abdul Rascoe seemed to struggle in some qualifying races, his Texas Toy was the truck to beat. The championship final round saw him face off with Mike Eaton's First Blood, with the big Texas Toy Ford claiming the win. It was an amazing start to what looks like to be a banner year for the RCMTC. Enjoy some pictures from today's event!.
