RCMTC ROUND 1 COVERAGE

SLASH CHALLENGE
In between the 2nd and 3rd rounds of monster truck racing, the RCMTC officials setup the track for what would be the Sharkey's Slash Challenge. Seven total Slash off road trucks were on hand for this event, and would be broken up into two groups which would create two heat races to set the field for a main race. The first group of 3 trucks raced and how they would finish would set the inside line for the main race, the second group of 4 trucks would set up the otuside line for the main. The course would be the dirt oval which would have 3 table top jumps for the trucks to hit. also the unique feature to these races was the RCMTC pace truck, a specially painted HPI Wheely King that would lead the trucks around for a full pace lap and then duck off and the race would start on a rolling start, each heat race would be 5 laps, the main race would be 7 laps. Jerry Matoon in his green colored slash would win the first heat race, and Brian Wood won the second heat in his blue #88 slash. In the slash main, it was Jerry Matoon backing up his heat race win with a win in the main, and jerry would win the first ever RCMTC Sharkey's Slash Challenge!!! Congrats to Jerry, here are some pics from the slash races.
