2010 RACE COVERAGE
July 24th 2010- The hot summer month of July brings with it a first for the RC Monster Truck Challenge of New York. The RCMTC ran it's first SUMMER NATIONALS event at The Dungeon Offroad R/C Park in Center Moriches NY. This awesome Long Island dirt track played host to some great side by side monster truck racing on an Anaheim Monster Jam style course as well as the short course trucks making their return since last year's season opener. The RCMTC drivers wouldn't have to worry about season points today as this was a non-points event, so the drivers can really hang it out and go for the win. The track threw in a huge challenge to the drivers as far as the racing surface goes, which featured a sandy like style texture which made for really slick racing. The surface combined with the 3 challenging corners made for the toughest surface the trucks have faced all year. RC4WD B&H tires would prove to be the advantage as traction was the name of the game this weekend and the trucks that had them really showed their strength.

Speaking of showing strength, Derrick Algieri's Mr. Destruction was on hand today and as he's been all year, he was a tough contender this weekend. Mr. Destruction made every final round of all 5 rounds held and won 3 of them. Kyle DeFalco in the Airfoce Afterburner would manage to knock Mr. D off in one of the finals and tried to rally for the lead but would come up second to the event winner Derrick. George Fabbiani also made a strong statement on his hometown track and won the last round of the day driving The Slayer.

The unique factor of this event was the short course event. Short course trucks came and did battle on an awesome off-road track which started on the monster truck tabletop and continued on to an amazing track full of moguls, banked turns and high jumps. George Fabbiani continued his strong day by winning the short course event with his Dale Earnhart replica bodied short course truck. Check out some pictures from the event!!

It's been a great day of racing and another awesome RCMTC event. Congratluations goes out to Derrick Algieri and Mr. Destruction for winning the monster truck portion of the event, and to George Fabbiani for winning the Short Course portion. We look foward to our next opportunity to come back to the dungeon offroad r/c park. Next month we get right back into points racing for the season title. Will Mr. Destruction use this moementum to take the August event?? or will another truck emerge victorious?? Keep it right here at rcmtcny.com for all the updates!!!
